I cannot upload a file

Common reasons why file uploads fail and how to fix them.

If a file fails to upload or the upload appears to hang, try the following steps in order.

Check the file format

MigraIQ accepts PDF, JPEG, PNG, and WebP files only. Files in other formats (Word documents, Excel files, TIFF images, HEIC photos) must be converted before uploading.

To convert:

  • Word or Excel to PDF: Open the file and use File then Save as PDF or Print to PDF.
  • HEIC to JPEG (common on iPhones): On a Mac, open the photo in Preview and export as JPEG. On Windows, use a free online converter.

Check the file size

Each file must be 20 MB or smaller. Compress large PDFs using a tool like Smallpdf or reduce image resolution before uploading.

Try a different browser

Upload issues are sometimes browser-specific. If you are using Safari, try Chrome or Firefox. Make sure your browser is up to date.

Disable browser extensions

Some ad blockers or privacy extensions can interfere with file uploads. Try disabling your extensions temporarily and attempting the upload again.

Check your internet connection

Large files require a stable connection. If you are on a mobile connection or a weak Wi-Fi signal, switch to a stronger connection before uploading.

Check for password protection

Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed by MigraIQ. Remove the password before uploading. In Adobe Acrobat or Preview, go to the security settings and remove the password. Alternatively, print the PDF to a new PDF file, which strips the password.
