Why is my document flagged as a Signal?
What Signals are, what the different types mean, and how to resolve them.
When MigraIQ detects a potential problem with your documents, it creates a Signal. Signals are not rejections. They are early warnings that give you the chance to fix issues before a visa officer sees your application.
Signal severity levels
| Severity | What it means | Score impact |
|---|---|---|
| Critical | A serious problem that could lead to rejection | -15 points |
| High | A significant issue that needs to be addressed | -8 points |
| Medium | A notable concern worth investigating | -3 points |
| Low | A minor issue that is unlikely to cause problems on its own | -1 point |
Common signal types and what to do
Passport expiry
Your passport expires before or shortly after your intended return date. Renew your passport before applying. Most countries require at least 6 months of validity beyond your travel dates.
Name mismatch
The name extracted from one document does not match the name on another document (usually your passport). Check spelling carefully on all documents. If your name legitimately appears differently on some documents (for example, a legal name change or a hyphenated name that appears without the hyphen on a financial document), include a brief written explanation and supporting evidence.
Bank statement name mismatch
The name on your bank statement does not match your passport name. Contact your bank to ensure your account name matches your legal name as shown on your passport.
Bank statement stale
Your bank statement is older than the required recency period (usually 3 months). Request an up-to-date statement directly from your bank.
Employment letter stale
Your employment letter is dated more than 30 days ago. Ask your employer to issue a new letter dated within the last 30 days.
Employment letter name mismatch
Your name on the employment letter does not match your passport name. Have your HR department reissue the letter with your full legal name.
Employment letter employer mismatch
The employer named on the letter does not match the employer on your pay stubs. This could indicate a discrepancy in how your employer's name is written. Make sure all documents refer to the same company name.
Pay stub stale
Your most recent pay stub is outside the acceptable date range. Upload more recent pay stubs.
Pay stub name or employer mismatch
Similar to employment letter issues. Ensure the name and employer are consistent across all documents.
Tax return stale or name mismatch
Your tax return is too old or shows a different name. If the name changed due to marriage or a legal name change, include documentation of the change.
Itinerary name mismatch
The name on your travel itinerary does not match your passport. Contact the booking service and correct the passenger name.
Itinerary date mismatch
The travel dates on your itinerary do not align with the dates stated in your intake form. Update either your intake form or your itinerary so the dates are consistent.
Itinerary wrong destination
The destination on your itinerary does not match the country of the visa you are applying for. Make sure you have booked travel to the correct country.
